Marquette 2, Hall 0: They didn’t win the battle, but coach Amanda Coutts believes her Lady Devils may have won the war. She said her team has been battling the mental aspect of the game all season, but Wednesday they showed they were up for the task. After falling 25-8 in the first set, the Lady Devils rallied to play the Cru to a 25-21 in the second game.

“Tonight the girls proved they can compete. Ottawa Marquette is a solid all around team. No doubt about it, but the girls finally didn’t give up on themselves. The score of the first game wasn’t pretty, but they came into the second game and played with heart and had fun.”

For Hall (2-14), Cherokee Gillispie had three kills; Deidra Whightsil had four digs; and Clarissa Gerard had five points.
