PRINCETON — The next installment in the Widmark Wednesday film series begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Princeton Public Library, 698 E. Peru St.
Richard Widmark stars in a 1950 film noir drama with Paul Douglas, Barbara Bel Geddes, Zero Mostel and Jack Palance in his first film role.
Filmed on location in New Orleans, the movie follows a public health service officer (Widmark) and police captain (Douglas) as they search the waterfront to locate underworld figures infected with pneumonic plague before a full-scale epidemic erupts.
Bel Geddes, who plays Widmark’s wife, later portrayed Miss Ellie on the long-running “Dallas” TV soap opera.
The movie will be shown in the library’s meeting room. Admission is free.
Widmark attended Princeton schools from sixth through 12th grades, graduating from PHS in 1932. His Hollywood career spanned more than 60 movies, and he was nominated for an Academy Award.
