Have you seen our newest copy of Illinois Valley Living magazine? If not, make sure you grab a copy. Our magazines are in more than 300 locations (check out where you can find a copy at www.illinoisvalleyliving.com) or stop by our office to get your copy.

I think you are really going to enjoy the stories, photos and artwork, which focuses on the people, places and things in the Illinois Valley. Let me know what you think.

Occasionally, I have people who wonder why the BCR might not print a particular arrest or police beat. Let me assure you we print everything we receive from our local police/sheriff/state police departments. We do not hold or refuse to publish anything. To do so would compromise our integrity, which I am not willing to do.

There are a host of reasons why police departments might not release a police report as quickly as you’d like to see them. There are many, many considerations which come into play — too many to list here, however, I believe our local departments do a good job in releasing this public information.

Mark your calendars: The BCR will host a candidates’ forum at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Bureau County Metro Center in Princeton, featuring the candidates for the Bureau County state’s attorney, circuit clerk and coroner races. A good voter is an informed voter. I hope to see you there.

As the leaves begin to fall, take some time to embrace this beautiful season. Breathe. Exhale. And remember ... you are important to me and the BCR.
