Mosbachs sweep MCC award

The Mosbach siblings are off and running for the Mount Mercy College cross country team.

Sophomore T.J. Mosbach and freshman Liz Mosbach, who put together the best performances ever for Mount Mercy runners at Notre Dame on Friday, were named Midwest Collegiate Conference Cross Country Athletes of the Week for Sept. 17.

T.J. finished 101st out of 276 total competitors at the National Catholic Championships in South Bend, Ind. He ran the five-mile race in 26:46, which was also 41st out of 170 racers in the college division.

Liz, a two-time MCC award winner this fall, was 76th out of 266 runners at Notre Dame with a time of 19:15 in the 5K. That was 21st in a field of 165 runners in the college division.

Another former Red Devil standout, Scott Janusick, a redshirt freshman for Illinois State, placed 102nd with a time of 28:55 in Saturday’s Griank Invitationalin Minneapolis.

Lorraine Stamberger, a sophomore from LaMoille, will run with the Augustana Vikings in Saturday’s Augustana Invite in Bettendorf, Iowa.


Two former Princeton Tiger teammates (Garrett Youngren from Brik Wedekind) reconnected for a 4-yard touchdown pass for Monmouth College’s 31-9 win Saturday over St. Norbert. It was the Fighting Scots’ first score of the game. Wedekind completed 10 of 17 passes for 90-yards and one touchdown while rushing for another score.
