Practicing for an emergency

Emergency personnel and community volunteers participate in a mock disaster drill Saturday at the Illinois Valley Regional Airport-Duncan Field near Peru. St. Margaret’s Health, Illinois Valley Community Hospital and the Illinois Valley Emergency Medical Service system hosted the drill, which simulated a small commuter plane making an emergency landing and crashing on the runway. Among the emergency personnel at Saturday’s drill were those from Spring Valley, Peru, LaSalle, Utica, Mendota and Oglesby.
