Better late than never for Farrell

Katie Farrell made a last-minute decision to join the Greater Princeton City Golf Open over the weekend when she canceled a scheduled lasik surgery ... she was glad she did. However, she had her doubts Saturday at Wyaton Hills when she wasn’t exactly seeing things straight.

The reigning champion of the Illinois Valley Women’s Golf Open trailed Wyaton’s own Ann Lusher by six strokes at the turn. Farrell was turned topsy-turvy navigating the unfamiliar course, bottoming out with an 8 on the Par 3, No. 3 hole.

“It’s been long time since I played at Wyaton. I really struggled through the first nine. That Par 3 got me good,” she said. “Once I got through the first nine and got to look at the course, I dropped 10 strokes. That helped. Of course, Sunday playing at Hunter’s Ridge, I kind of know every turn and twist.”
