Cast named for ‘A Thousand Clowns’

LASALLE — Stage 212 has announced the cast for its fall 2012 production, Herb Gardner’s poignant comedy “A Thousand Clowns.”

Unconventional Murray Burns divides his time between writing cheap comedy gags for a children’s television star and taking care of his young nephew, Nick. When Murray gets fed up with his job and walks out, he finds himself with plenty of free time. He also finds himself under scrutiny, from his more conventional brother and from a pair of social workers who threaten to remove Nick from his custody. Murray’s dilemma is complex: setting a good example for Nick and proving he’s a socially acceptable guardian while maintaining his own dignity.

Appearing as Murray Burns is Bob Kinsella. Joining him on stage are Reid Tomaason as Nick Burns, Zoe Clover as Sandra Markowitz, Joe Peshel as Albert Amundson, Joe Baima as Arnold Burns and Ken Schroeder as Leo Herman.
