City positions up for grabs

Twenty Bureau County mayoral positions, 10 city/village clerk positions, one city treasurer and an estimated 70 village board trustee/commissioner/aldermen positions will be up for election at the April 9, 2013, consolidated election.

Candidate packets for those positions are now available from village clerks and city halls around the county. The filing date for those candidate petitions is Dec. 17-24, with the petitions to be returned to the village clerk or city hall.

The following is a list of candidates for village/city positions open for the April 2013 election. The villages of Hollowayville, LaMoille and Ohio did not return calls to the Bureau County Republican by press time, with the information on those villages supplied through the Bureau County Clerk’s office. There could be additional unexpired terms open in those villages, Bureau County Clerk Kami Hieronymus said.

• Arlington: The village of Arlington will have five openings in the April election. The position of mayor, currently held by Richard Koch, is open, as is the position of village clerk, currently held by Mary Stouffer. Also, three trustee positions, currently held by Jo Alyce Hewitt, Joe Lindenmier and Travis Moore, are open.

• Buda: The Buda Village Board has two trustee positions open in the April election. Those seats are currently held by Pete DeFreezer and Lisa Aber.

• Bureau Junction: The position of village president, currently held by Rodney Crowther, will be open in April, as is the village clerk position, currently held by Karen Podobinski. Three trustee positions, currently held by Tom Hollingsworth, Kevin Curley and Sheryl Barnhart, are also up for election in April.

• Cherry: The position of village president, currently held by Robert McCook, will be up for election in April, as is the position of village clerk, currently held by Howard Raef. Three trustee positions, currently held by James Hoscheid, Joseph Wenzel and Alan Hahn, will also be up for election.

• Dalzell: The village mayoral position, currently held by Gloria Orlandi, is up for election, as is the village clerk position, currently held by Jyll Pozzi. Trustee positions, currently held by Laura Soens-Lunn, Joe Tonozzi and Jim Brophy, are also up for election.
