City positions up for grabs
Filing date for candidate petitions is Dec. 17-24
Twenty Bureau County mayoral positions, 10 city/village clerk positions, one city treasurer and an estimated 70 village board trustee/commissioner/aldermen positions will be up for election at the April 9, 2013, consolidated election.
Candidate packets for those positions are now available from village clerks and city halls around the county. The filing date for those candidate petitions is Dec. 17-24, with the petitions to be returned to the village clerk or city hall.
The following is a list of candidates for village/city positions open for the April 2013 election. The villages of Hollowayville, LaMoille and Ohio did not return calls to the Bureau County Republican by press time, with the information on those villages supplied through the Bureau County Clerk’s office. There could be additional unexpired terms open in those villages, Bureau County Clerk Kami Hieronymus said.
• Arlington: The village of Arlington will have five openings in the April election. The position of mayor, currently held by Richard Koch, is open, as is the position of village clerk, currently held by Mary Stouffer. Also, three trustee positions, currently held by Jo Alyce Hewitt, Joe Lindenmier and Travis Moore, are open.
• Buda: The Buda Village Board has two trustee positions open in the April election. Those seats are currently held by Pete DeFreezer and Lisa Aber.
• Bureau Junction: The position of village president, currently held by Rodney Crowther, will be open in April, as is the village clerk position, currently held by Karen Podobinski. Three trustee positions, currently held by Tom Hollingsworth, Kevin Curley and Sheryl Barnhart, are also up for election in April.
• Cherry: The position of village president, currently held by Robert McCook, will be up for election in April, as is the position of village clerk, currently held by Howard Raef. Three trustee positions, currently held by James Hoscheid, Joseph Wenzel and Alan Hahn, will also be up for election.
• Dalzell: The village mayoral position, currently held by Gloria Orlandi, is up for election, as is the village clerk position, currently held by Jyll Pozzi. Trustee positions, currently held by Laura Soens-Lunn, Joe Tonozzi and Jim Brophy, are also up for election.
• DePue: The village president position, currently held by Eric Bryant, is up for election, as is the position of village clerk, currently held by Janeann Vickers. Also, three trustee positions, currently held by Gerald Favero, Susan Spayer and Lyle Behm, are up for election.
• Dover: The village president position, currently held by David Walters, is open for election in April, as are three trustee positions, currently held by Daniel Fisher, Thomas Tournear and Harold Graff.
• Hollowayville: The village mayoral position, currently held by Anthony Ponsetti, is up for election in April, as are three trustee positions, currently held by Tina Golden, Frances “Cody” Strange and Mary Beth Ponsetti.
• Ladd: The four-year terms of village President Mike Grivetti, clerk Diane Chandler, and trustees Frank Cattani, Carol Collins and Barry Flanagan will expire in April.
• LaMoille: The village president position, currently held by Michael Pinter, is up for election in April, as are the trustee positions currently held by Jason Sadnick, Justin Sadnick and Steve Stouffer.
• Malden: The village mayoral position, currently held by Robert Turpen, is up for election in April, as are three trustee positions currently held by Brian Joiner, Mary Kay Nichols and Roger Krueger.
• Manlius: Open positions in the April election are those of village mayor, currently held by Gene Menard; village clerk, currently held by Lori Roush; and three trustee positions, currently held by Donna Ericson, Dawn Reglin and Trisha Johnson.
• Mineral: Open positions are to be determined at the village board’s Oct. 8 meeting.
• Neponset: Open positions in the April election are those of village mayor, currently held by Carl Rohrig; and three trustee seats, currently held by Barb Jannie, Ken Snyder and Jeff Sampson.
• New Bedford: Three trustees positions are open in the April election. Those seats are currently held by Larry Sugars, Patrick Stillwell and Patsy Swanson.
• Ohio: The village president position, currently held by Charles Thomas, is open for election in April, as are three trustee positions currently held by Heidi Ketchum and Steve Conner, with one unfilled seat.
• Princeton: Two commissioner seats are open in April, with those seats currently held by Bob Warren and Terry Madsen.
• Seatonville: The village clerk position, currently held by Pam Haslam, is open in the April election, as are three trustees positions currently held by Chad Errio, Luke Plym and Jack Brown.
• Sheffield: The position of mayor, currently held by Bill Rosenow, is open for election next spring, as are three trustee positions currently held by Adrienne Ries, Sue Bromme and Harley Barton.
• Spring Valley: The position of city mayor, currently held by Cliff Banks, is up for election in April, as are the positions of city clerk, currently held by Rebecca Hansen, and city treasurer, currently held by John “Jack” Boroski. Also open in the April election are the First Ward Alderman seat currently held by Michael Richetta, the Second Ward Alderman seat currently held by Charles Hansen, the Third Ward Alderman seat currently held by Walter Marini and the Fourth Ward Alderman seat currently held by Richard Fusinatto.
• Tiskilwa: The position of village mayor, currently held by Charles Randy Philhower, is open for election in April, as well as the position of village clerk, currently held by Kathryn Gorman. Also, three trustees positions are open, with those positions currently held by Steve McKenney and Dan Acker, with an unfilled seat.
• Walnut: The village president position, currently held by Robert Brasen, will be open, as are three open trustee seats, currently held by Everett Lee Sarver, Lori Wilkinson and Dennis Grobe.
• Wyanet: The positions of village president and five trustee positions will be open for the April election. Those positions are currently held by village president Bruce Hand and trustees Marilyn Johnson, Kim Rich, Tom Odell, Joe Law and John Swarczewski.
