CHERRY — School colors for the Cherry Grade School Lady Comets basketball team are red and white by tradition. On Thursday, they will go pink.

The Lady Comets and community want to show their support in the fight against breast cancer and especially to show support for assistant coach Jill Lusietto who was diagnosed earlier this year with breast cancer. Everyone will be wearing pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month for Thursday's home game with Deer Park. Gametime is 6 p.m.

Cherry coach Ryan Luecke said the event is not meant to be a money maker but just to get a large number of caring people together to show their support.

Shirts are for sale at $7 for sizes up to Adult XL, $9 for larger sizes. Orders can be made by calling Luecke at (815) 488-0179 or by email at ppdrecreationman@yahoo.com. Orders must be turned in by Wednesday.

The First 50 paying people to get into the game will get a free ribbon pin. Concessions will also be available for sale.
