At Elmwood: Bureau Valley boys finished second behind the host team in Monday’s Elmwood/Brimfield Invitational. E/B scored 52 points with the Storm checking in at 115. Top finishers for the Storm are sixth Ryan Taylor (16:21), 19th Kane Eastwood (16:52) and 30th Logan Hoffert (17:27).
BV’s Regan Weidner’s placed seventh in the girls’ race with a time of 19:59, with first going to Canton’s Madison Lefler (18:26). Next to finish for the Storm, which placed ninth as a team (273), was Katelin Johnson (50th, 22:29). Canton took first with 68 points.
At Baker Lake: Host L-P defeated St. Bede 28-37 Monday with Mendota (61) running third. Top finishers for the Bruins were Sam Lucas (4th, 18:40), Anthony Schneider (6th, 19:04), Sam Brolley (8th, 19:12), Jacob Condon (9th, 19:13) and Nick Puhr (10th, 19:32). Mendota’s Ethan Sack was first in 17:26.
For the girls, St. Bede’s Laura Sickley was ninth (23:44), Hannah Reed 16th (27:53) and Ana Jereb 18th (30:59). L-P’s M. Krolak won in 20:02.
At St. Bede: Ottawa Marquette got to run against the Tri-County Conference field Tuesday, after missing last week’s conference meet, and swept the boys’ and girls’ meets. The Cru (22) placed three in the top five in the boys’ race, including race winner Lucas Hill (16:19), to defeat Hall (36), St. Bede (69) and Putnam County (99). Hall’s Joe Parochetti placed second (17:01) and Al Baldanado fourth (17:16). St. Bede’s Sam Brolley was eighth (18:53).
Dani Aurit won the girls’ race for Marquette, which defeated Hall 20-37. Hall’s Katie Hoffert was second (21:10) and DePue’s Velinda Lopez took third (21:58).
