EVANSTON — Donald J. Terando, 83, of Evanston died on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno.

He was a long-time Evanston resident and was born in Spring Valley to John and Victoria Terando.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Patricia Watters. He was a loving father of Dr. Betsy Reidy, Mimi (Zafar) Terando-Fakroddin, Susan (John) Powen, Ann (Thomas) Heinz, and Mary Clare (Patrick) McNulty; dear grandfather to Molly and Peter Reidy, Lia Fakroddin, Jack, Thomas and Adam Powen, and Mimi and Patrick McNulty; brother of Raymond (deceased); brother-in-law of Anna Marie (Leo) Murphy and Kay Watters, uncle to many.

He was a proud graduate of St. Bede Academy, St. Ambrose University and enthusiastic fan of all Northwestern University sports. Many thanks to the staff of the Illinois Veterans Home at Manteno for their compassionate care during Don’s lengthy illness.
