Imogene Swanson

LEBANON, Ohio — Imogene "Betty" Swanson, 88, of Lebanon, Ohio, died on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Hospice of Butler and Warren counties in Franklin, Ohio.

She was born Aug. 28, 1924, in Galesburg to Illif and Flossie (Rodgers) Simkins.

Survivors include her son, Duane (Susan) Swanson of Lebanon, Ohio; grandchildren, Abigal Swanson of St. Petersburg, Fla., Matthew (Christy) Swanson of Mason, Ohio; Cassidy Swanson of Lebanon, Ohio and Mindy (Jeremy) Hartzell of Basalt, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Cole, Emmie and Kamryn; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ray J. Swanson in 2010; her daughter, Jacqueline R. Haskins; a brother, Wyman Simkins and a sister, Connie Danforth. Betty was a registered nurse who had trained at Peoria Methodist Hospital and practiced for many years in Tiskilwa at the office of Dr. McQueen. Later Betty served as activities director for Prairie View Nursing Home in Princeton.

She was a lifetime member of the Princeton United Methodist Church, enjoyed playing golf and watching professional basketball and tennis.

Memorial services will be hosted by the family at a later date in both Lebanon, Ohio, and Princeton. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties, 5940 Long Meadow Dr., Franklin, OH 45005.
