St. Bede hosts the local 2A regional, drawing the fifth seed and opening match vs. No. 4 Putnam County on Oct. 22. No. 6 Hall will meet No. 3 Eureka in a field headed by Fieldcrest and El Paso-Gridley.

Also in 2A, Bureau Valley took the fifth seed at Orion, where it will face No. 4 Rockridge at 6 p.m. Oct. The host Chargers are top-seeded followed by Sherrard and Kewanee.

In 1A, LaMoille/Ohio is seeded second behind Newark at Earlville. The Lady Lions will meet the host Red Raiders on Oct. 23. DePue is No. 5 out of five teams at Roanoke.

Junior college: Highland defeated IVCC in Freeport Wednesday 22-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-22. Sarah Lushina had 13 kills, and Crystalynn Washkowiak added 11 with Jessica Jessen making 27 digs.
