The Sandwich Indians found when it rains on the soccer field against the Princeton Tigers, it pours.
The Tigers poured in six first-half goals and added three in the second to polish its game for the postseason Thursday.
“I thought we played well and kept our focus in a game that got out of hand. Everyone got some playing time and we are heatlhy heading into regionals,” PHS coach Jason Bird said.
Dylan Schafer had two goals and an assist, and Starr Mecum added a pair of goals. Also scoring for PHS (14-8-1) were Raider Keenan, Kevin Sanchez, Jacob Estada, Nathan Tournear and Brenton Schmidt. Nolan Piper and Miguel Austin combined for the shutout on goal.
Soccer regional: The Tigers will kick off regional play at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday against Bureau County rival DePue at 6:30 p.m. at Rock Island. The Tigers are the No. 2 seed behind Monmouth-Roseville. DePue is No. 3. Regional finals will be played at Saturday.
