Perry Memorial Hospital eases public concerns with steroid medication
PRINCETON — Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton would like to calm any local concerns regarding the national reports about patients who may have received a steroid injection linked to an outbreak of a form of meningitis.
According to media information, as recently as Friday, at least 47 people nationwide had contracted fungal meningitis after receiving injections of a steroid medication which is a common treatment for back pain. The questionable steroid was custom-made by a specialty pharmacy in Massachusetts.
Perry Memorial wants to assure the public they have never purchased their steroid medications from the pharmacy in question.
