UTICA — The legendary Johnnie Kaye Orchestra announces a fall big band dance set for 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Celebrations 150 Hall in Utica.

Johnnie Kaye, known as “the dean of central Illinois bandleaders” for 62 years, passed away in 2010 but his music lives on through the efforts of long time vocalist Alicia Hamilton.

Johnnie Kaye’s big band sounds of yesterday will come alive again at this special event.

Admission is $12.50 in advance and $15 at the door. Advance reservations can be made by check to: Johnnie Kaye Orchestra, 103 E. Lockwood, St. Louis, MO 63119.

The Celebrations 150 Hall is located at 740 E. Route 6, Utica. From Interstate 80, take exit 81, one-half mile south on Route 178. Turn right at Route 6 and Celebrations is one-half mile ahead on the left.

For more information, call 314-962-7000 or 314-962-8300 for more information.

Johnnie Kaye’s Orchestra is a 14-piece ensemble playing in the style of the 1930s – ‘50s with an occasional Roaring ‘20s or contemporary piece mixed in for variety and to keep the dancing crowd on their toes. Dancers thrill to the lift provided by four saxophones, five brass, a rhythm section and the timeless, classic vocals of Alicia Hamilton.

For a free sample of the sound, people can visit Johnnie’s website at: www. JohnnieKaye.com. These are not just snippets but full song performances. However recordings will never outshine experiencing the live sound up close and personal.
