Black Hawk College East Campus holds annual Speed Show

GALVA — On Saturday, the community is invited to Black Hawk College East Campus to watch competitive barrel racing, learn about the college’s equestrian program, and support the Kewanee Area United Way all while enjoying a great afternoon outing.

The Black Hawk College Horse Show Team is hosting its annual Speed Show in the college’s Ag Arena. Timed races begin at noon. There will be open arena from 8 to 9 a.m. with exhibition from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m.

“We hope lots of people from the community show up for an afternoon of great barrel racing,” said Drew Cotton, Black Hawk College equine instructor and United Way team member. “Our students have been winning top awards across the Midwest over the past few years, so this is a chance to see why. And, the community can support the Kewanee Area United Way at the same time.”
