Lokala Studios opens in Peru

Grand opening set for Saturday

PERU — A grand opening for Lokala Studios is set for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in downtown Peru.

“We carry the largest assortment of handmade and locally produced items in the area,” said Erin and Chris Berger, the owners of the studios, which supports local businesses and artists in the Illinois Valley area.

“We carry some of the most popular items from the most popular businesses and support local talents by giving artists and craftspeople a place to showcase their talent,” they said. “We are unique in that we are constantly seeking out new businesses and talents to carry their products for sale.”

If customers are looking to support local businesses and want to do their part in making the Illinois Valley economy thrive, then they should shop Lokala Studios in downtown Peru, the Bergers added.

“In keeping with our commitment to support only local businesses and people, we will be doing fundraisers for local charities and schools. We intend to donate proceeds from specific days to these charities,” said Chris.

Lokala Studios has created chalkboard signs that are placed outside of the business. They will tell residents who pass by what is happening and what to look forward to.

“Supporting local business and local residents of the Illinois Valley is our priority, and our customer service is the best you will find anywhere,” added Chis.

Lokala Studios is also the home of Krinklz Baby items, which have been gifted to more than 25 celebrity parents with new babies, she said. The business has a wide variety of handcrafted items for all ages, male or female and promises an ever changing inventory with new products and seasonal changes.

The business is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Monday and is closed on Tuesday. It is located at 1818 Fourth St. in Peru.

Erin, who has some Swedish heritage in her background, said Lokala means “local” in Swedish, and that is how the Bergers chose that name for their business that opened its doors earlier this year.
