Used book sale

PRINCETON — The Friends of the Princeton Public Library used book sale will be Friday and Nov. 3 at the library, 698 E. Peru St., Princeton. Hours for Friday are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours for Nov. 3 are 9 a.m. to noon. The “Friends” have opened a permanent area in the library with their complete inventory of books for sale at the same low prices. The sale is starting a new phase by selling books in the library throughout the year instead of only at the April sale.

Fundraiser planned

LADD — Project Success and the Hall Township Food Pantry will hold a Rip’s Night fundraiser from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at Rip’s in Ladd. Carry-outs will be available with free delivery offered to Ladd residents. A bake sale and 50/50 drawing will also be held. Tickets are $7 and will be available at the door. Free dessert will be given for the donation of a new, unwrapped toy brought to the event. For more information, contact Jan at 815-663-2085.

Halloween party

MALDEN — Malden Grade School will host a Halloween party fundraiser to benefit the Malden After-School Program from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Saturday. Admission is free and it will be fun for all ages. Tickets for games, crafts and food will be 25 cents each. Games and crafts will be one ticket each, food and drink will be anywhere from two to 10 tickets. There will also be a bake sale, 50/50 drawing, raffle items and a costume contest.

Trunk or treat

SHEFFIELD — The Sheffield United Methodist Church will host a Trunk or Treat from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday during the community’s trick or treating night. Children can collect treats from the decorated trunks. Free coffee will be served for adults.

Veterans Day services

PRINCETON — The Princeton DAR chapter will take part in Veterans Day services along with the Princeton Veterans Group and American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary Unit 125. The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 12 at Veterans Memorial Park on South Main Street in Princeton. Princeton Police Chief Tom Root will be the guest speaker. Refreshments will be served after the services at the American Legion Post on West Peru Street. All are invited to attend.

Halloween events

LADD — The Ladd Recreation Board will sponsor a Halloween parade and party today, Saturday. Preschool and grade school age children, and grandchildren of Ladd residents, are invited to participate. The parade will line up at 12:45 p.m. in the North Central Bank parking lot and step off at 1 p.m. proceeding south on Main Street to the Ladd Community Center. There the children will have the opportunity to decorate a pumpkin and participate in games with prizes awarded. A lunch of hot dogs, chips, cookies and Kool-Aid will be served. Trick or treat in Ladd will be fro 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
