For the love of Joey

SPRING VALLEY — Recently 4-year-old Joey came to the Hall Township Food Pantry in Spring Valley with his mother.  As she “shopped”, Joey asked the volunteers if they had any oatmeal.  His bowl was empty at home and he was really hungry for some warm oatmeal.

Sadly, the Pantry had none. When asked if there was anything else he liked, Joey quickly said: “Oreos, Spaghettios, Pop Tarts, cereal, Mac and Cheese, pudding cups, Pancakes and Syrup and potato chips.” More than 40 percent of the patrons of Hall Township Food Pantry are children – a lot of  “Joeys” with simple wants and hopeful hearts.

St. Bede’s Lady Bruins Volleyball Team heard about little Joey’s wish – called their friends - the Tigresses of Princeton and together, the teams decided to sponsor a Pack the Pantry night at their game on Tuesday in Abbot Vincent Gymnasium. The freshmen match starts at 5 p.m., followed by the sophomore game and ending with varsity.
