Hall's Pete Mautino and Princeton's Hunter Schultz were split between two Twin City golf courses around Bloomington-Normal Friday, but the both had one goal in common - land a medal from IHSA state golf finals.

Class 1A at Prairie Vista Golf Course, Bloomington: Mautino, Hall junior, was 9 over at the turn at 45, currently ranked 42nd. He had a couple of pars (4 and a 3), but triple-bogeyed the par 4 No. 14 hole. Atop the leaderboard was Landon Vaughn of McLeansboro Hamilton County at 1 under.
Class 2A at D.A. Weibring Golf Club, ISU, Normal: Schultz came in at 89 through his first day of competition, presently ranked 80th. The PHS senior had a 47 (12 over) on the back 9 and finished with a 42 (6 over) on the front side. Troy Triad senior Blaine Buente is back on top, even after 15 holes.
IHSA Sectional tennis
At Ottawa: Princeton's Jen O'Neil won her first singles match 6-0, 6-0 over Morris in sectional competition. PHS No. 2 doubles team of Taylor Behrends and Kate Morrow also won their first match, defeating St. Bede 6-0, 6-2. The PHS No. doubles of Stephanie Blessman Mckenzie Schafer will be taking the courts against DeKalb's Elyse Roberts and Mary Ellen Green soon.
