Marquette, Midland to play for TCC title
Top-seed Streator Woodland and No. 3 Ottawa Marquette will play for the 2012 Tri-County Conference volleyball tournament championship at DePue Saturday.
Woodland beat Putnam County 25-18, 25-20 on Wednesday, and Marquette tripped No. 2 Midland 25-12, 19-25, 25-23 Thursday.
Hall was denied entry into the consolation finals, falling to No. 6 Roanke-Benson 26-24, 25-20.
Wednesday’s action saw Hall defeat the host Lady Giants 25-13, 25-13.
Morrison 2, Bureau Valley 0: The Fillies rode into the Storm Cellar Thursday to hand the Storm a 25-17, 25-19 defeat in Three Rivers Conference play. Lindsey Hoffert had seven kills for the Storm (8-14, 5-7), and Brandi DeWaele added four kills and four points.
BV won the sophomore tilt 28-26, 25-15, but Morrison claimed the freshman contest 25-20, 13-25, 25-19.
Ridgewood 2, Annawan 1: The Bravettes dropped a highly-contested match Wednesday 28-26, 17-25, 25-23. Uriah Rico and Paige Randall each had four kills for Annawan (9-18, 3-6).
Junior college: IVCC traveled to Kewanee Wednesday where it defeated Black Hawk East 22-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-16. Hailee Brayton and Johnna Schultz had 13 points each, and Kayla MacDavitt chipped in nine kills and five blocks. Sarah Lushina recorded a team-high 17 kills.
