Bruins win Mixed Classic

The host Bruins won the championship in Saturday’s St. Bede Mixed Classic with 43 points to defeat Princeton (57) and Ohio (77).

St. Bede’s Sam Lucus won the race with a time of 18:40 with Leo Lopez (19:06) taking third and Sam Brolley (19:31) fifth. Princeton’s Mason Hunt (19:13) placed fourth with Alex Biggs (19:38) sixth and Andrew Birkey (19:54) seventh.

Princeton’s Kathryn Krieger was the first female finisher, placing seventh overall in 23:08. She was followed by Ohio’s Caitlin Quarton (24:04), St. Bede’s Laura Sickley (24:39) and Hannah Read (25:57).

“It got a little wet out there, but I thought we had some decent efforts,” PHS coach Pat Hodge said.

At Peoria: Bureau Valley’s Regan Weidner claimed third place in Saturday’s Peoria Heights Invitational at Detweiller Park. She had a time of 18 minutes, 28 seconds to follow Midwest Central’s Cassie Mundekis (18:09) and Ottawa Marquette’s Dani Aurit (18:26).

Hall finished 14th out of 25 teams, paced by 24th Katie Hoffert (20:05), 58th Jacquie Wallaert (21:20) and 61st  Paige Orlandi (21:25). BV placed 19th of 25 teams with Katelin Johnson (21:43) placing 76th and Riley Francis (22:26) taking 94th.

Hall’s Al Baldonado (eighth, 16:07) and Joseph Parrochetti (ninth, 16:08) cracked the boys’ top 10 with BV’s Ryan Taylor (16:28) placing 20th. The Storm placed sixth and Hall ninth as a team.
