LADD — Kankun Restaurant and Bar opened the first of October, serving authentic Mexican food at 123 S. Main Ave. in Ladd.
Roberto and Alicia Gonzalez are the owners of the restaurant that is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.
Roberto Gonzalez said he has many years of experience running different restaurants, the last one in Blue Springs in the Chicago area.
“Somebody told us about this place,” he said. “It (the restaurant) was closed for awhile after being operated by someone else.”
The restaurant’s menu has authentic Mexican dishes like burritos, tacos, enchiladas and three fajtia dishes (chicken, steak and shrimp). They serve many imported beers at the bar. They also have a full breakfast menu for diners.
In addition to the restaurant and full bar that can seat up to 50 people located in the building’s basement, the Gonzalezes can also host receptions upstairs in a banquet room that can seat around 500 people.
Kankun Restaurant and Bar’s phone number is 815-894-8021.
