Change of date

MANLIUS — The NHS members from Bureau Valley High School will be trick or treating for canned goods for the food pantries on Nov. 1 instead of today, Tuesday, due to the girls’ volleyball regionals schedule.


PRINCETON — The Gator sports teams will sell fresh Christmas wreaths, sprays, garland, center pieces and living trees as a fundraiser. The money collected will be used for uniforms, equipment, and transportation to and from events. Anyone interested should contact Kathy Peterson at 815-872-5049 or drivnsty1@ivnet.com.

Meeting set

PRINCETON — Professional Home Economists of Bureau County will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday at the home of Nancy Charbonneau, 119 N. Euclid Ave. in Princeton. Gregory Johnston, a professional financial planner from Peoria, will speak. His program, “Love Letter to Your Family,” will suggest ways to do a “financial check-up” and consider how one’s assets will be used in retirement. Soup and sandwiches will be served afterwards. Addresses wanted

PRINCETON — The American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary of Princeton is once again seeking names and complete addresses of troops overseas serving in Iraq and Afghanistan so the Auxiliary Unit can send them a Christmas box. Names and addresses will be accepted through Oct. 31 by sending same to VA&R chairperson Clara Pease, 321 Briar Lane, Princeton, IL 61356, or mail to American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary, 1549 W. Peru St., Princeton, IL 61356 Attn: Overseas Troops.

Veterans Day dance

PRINCETON — The Princeton Moose Lodge will host a Veterans Day dinner and dance Nov. 9. Non-members be our guest. Veterans are invited to a free dinner on the Lodge. Dinner will be served from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Generics will present a special program for the veterans at 6:30 p.m., then enjoy the music of the Generics Goodies Band from 7:30 to 10 p.m. There will be a cover charge for the dance.

Gift shop

SPRING VALLEY — St. Margaret’s Hospital Gift Shop Christmas Celebration and Open House will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 10 and 11. Gifts will include clothing, jewelry, handbags, Christmas decor and toys. There will be refreshments and free gift wrap available.

LADD — The Ladd American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, at the Legion Post in Ladd to discuss the November Christmas party and any new business.
