PHS announces fall play, ‘Pippi Longstocking’

PRINCETON — Princeton High School‘s fall play, “Pippi Longstocking,” will be presented at 7 p.m. Nov. 2 and 3 in the Sally Skinner Council Auditorium.

“Pippi Longstocking,” the classic Swedish children’s story by Astrid Lindgren, was created by Lindgren in 1941 to entertain her daughter who had pneumonia. After publication in 1946 it quickly became popular around the world. Pippi’s antics with her friends Tommy and Annika have entertained generations of children.

Pippi (Emily Boes) is strong, independent and quite capable of taking care of herself; she knows her angel mother (Nicole Worgess) is watching over her and assumes her absent, pirate king, father (Hunter Rodda) will appear any day. The play has all the Pippi series characters: Tommy (Nicolas Warren); Annika (Katie Elliot); chair of the child welfare board, Mrs. Prysselius (Brandy Molitor); the bumbling thieves, Thunder (Tyler Clark) and Bloom (Noah Currie); and the town police, Klang (Olivia Joehl) and Larsson (Daniel Bonucci). Student directors, Geneive Prushinski, and Taylor Carlson plus an acting ensemble of townspeople and sailors (Shelia Ferguson, Fern Webber, Kayla Bolin, Max Boes, Kerry Ryan, Emily Willis, Taylor Tieman, Samantha Holt, Nick O’Toole, Rebekah Rowland, Ryan Jensen, Josh Fullerton and Hailey Hedden), will bring this story alive on stage for all ages to enjoy.
