From the editor’s desk

I think if I see one more political advertisement on TV, I am going to scream! How about you? I would caution you to be very careful with what you hear — from either side of the aisle. Facts tend to get lost during campaigns, and what you see is not always the absolute truth. I can’t help but wonder how much good the millions of dollars spent on political TV advertising could do if they were directed toward benevolent causes ... just a thought.

I hope you’re planning on attending the Bureau County Republican’s Candidates Forum, set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bureau County Metro Center in Princeton. The event is absolutely free, but I believe you’ll come away with a wealth of knowledge about the candidates for Bureau County Circuit Clerk, Bureau County State’s Attorney and Bureau County Coroner. Even if you’ve already decided how you will cast your ballot, I strongly urge you to come out and listen to our candidates. It’s not easy to throw your hat in the ring — so to speak, and this will be a great opportunity to hear both candidates for each office answer questions on the issues. I’ll see you there.
