BVHS will offer parent programs
MANLIUS — Bureau Valley High School will host three one-hour programs for parents/guardians in November, December and January.
Many parents struggle or are uncomfortable about talking to their teenagers about certain subjects. Bureau Valley has identified three critical subject areas that should be discussed and continually discussed between parents and teenagers. Substance abuse, sex education and Internet safety (sexting) are three areas that teachers, staff and administration hear teenagers talking about in the hallways of the school. Not always are the overheard conversations correct or factual.
Through the 21st Century Community Learning Center and Sauk Valley Community College, the school has put together programs addressing these three topics. The programs will provide parents with advice and information yet maintain a light-hearted tone as to not make anyone uncomfortable.
