Pigskin Previews - Playoffs Week 1

St. Bede (7-2) at Monmouth-Roseville (7-2)

Gametime: 6 p.m. Saturday at Monmouth.

How to get there: The game will be played at Sunny Lane Field, located at 500 S. Sunny Lane in Monmouth, not at the school site. As you come into Monmouth from the east on Route 34 from Galesburg, you turn left at the fourth stop light, which is Broadway. Once you get on Broadway, you will turn right the first street that you come to, which is South Sunny Lane.

BCR insider: Mon-Rose was formed in 2005 with the merger of the two school districts. The former Monmouth District had 13 playoff appearances from 1976-95, including a 3A state championship in 1983. Roseville had five playoff appearances from 1980-89. … While, St. Bede has made three straight playoff appearances, 13 overall, M-R has just three to its credit and has not won a playoff game before.

Mon-Rose beat Princeton 42-0 in Week 6 on the way to a second-place (7-2) finish in the West Central Conference.

BCR insider: The Raiders finished third in the Northeastern Athletic Conference with league losses to Ottawa Marquette (35-14) and Mooseheart (28-27). NSCD has not won a playoff game since 1999 and stands 5-10 in postseason play. The Clippers have won 10 playoff games in that span and 24 total.
