Ohio Grade School (Oct. 16)

OHIO — The Ohio Grade School Board of Education took action on the following items at its meeting Oct. 16:

• Approved the submission of the 2013 School Library Per Capita Grant Application.

• Accepted the Joint Agreement Budget for the Alternative Program.

• Reviewed and accepted the FY 2012 audit.

• Heard there are 81 students enrolled at this time.

• Heard Board President Robert Albrecht and Superintendent Sharon Sweger have been in contact with Citizens First National Bank of Princeton concerning the safety of the district’s money. Sweger said they were assured that it is safe, but Albrecht told the board that in all probability, the district will be moving its accounts.

• Heard the Regional Office of Education conducted its annual inspection of the building last week. There were a couple little things to look at, and they would like Sweger to check with the district’s architect to determine if a heat sensor is needed in the new kindergarten storage closet.

• Heard the electrical panel has been installed in the boiler room, but there is a problem with the compressor, which may need to be replaced.

• Discussed cuts made by the state regarding transportation reimbursement. Sweger said the grade school and high school districts received a total of $71,843 in regular transportation money in 2010. This year the districts are scheduled to receive $22,332.

• Heard boys basketball began with the annual Malden tournament, and the boys won first place. All American Cheerleader picked was Paige Conner, and Noah Jilderda and Nathan Bousum were picked for the All Tournament Team.

The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 20 in the school library.
