Peru spoils Logan’s title bid

SRC girls basketball

STREATOR — Peru Parkside thrived in the spoiler role Thursday in the Starved Rock Conference seventh-grade girls’ basketball tournament at Streator.

Princeton Logan was undefeated, looking to cap its first undefeated season since the 2002 eighth-grade squad went 15-0 and send coach Brian Herron off into retirement as a champion. Peru, however, spoiled the festivities by defeating the Lionesses 27-26 in Thursday’s title game.

At 14-1, Logan matched the record recorded by the 2002 seventh-grade squad, which then went 14-2 the next year in eighth grade.
