Well, we planned to get the heaters in the birdbaths, but this past weekend, I woke up to find a skating rink in the birdbath on the deck. Go figure.

While I’m not a fan of that blustery winter weather, there is something so invigorating about these crisp autumn days. I hope you’re enjoying them as much as I am.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the candidates who participated in the BCR’s Candidates’ Forum, held last Thursday at the Bureau County Metro Center. I’d also like to thank the voters who attended the event. It was an awful, windy and rainy night, but I was impressed with your desire to learn about the candidates who will ultimately represent Bureau County.

Election Day is Nov. 6. Clearly it’s an important election locally and nationally. Now is the time to do your own research to find out what the candidates represent. It’s very difficult to determine what’s real and what’s not from all the TV ads, so I urge you to do your own research.
