PRINCETON — The Princeton Public Library will offer a talk and reading by author Deb Borys from her book “Painted Black” at 6:30 p.m. today, Thursday. Also, the Friends of the Library will hold a preview night from 3 to 8 p.m. for Friends members for the book sale. The “Friends” have opened a permanent area in the library with their complete inventory of books for sale at the same low prices. The sale is starting a new phase by selling books in the library throughout the year instead of only at the April sale. The sale will continue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
On Monday, the Friends of the Library board will meet at 4 p.m., and the Monday Night Movie will be shown at 6:30 p.m. A shadowy freedom fighter known only as V fights against a totalitarian society.
On Tuesday, the preschool story hour will be held with music with Miss Cheryl, with the theme Eric Carle. All area preschoolers and their parents or guardians are welcome to attend. Also, J.V. Enterprises will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; WUNT will meet at 6:30 p.m.; Sparky and Ronda Rucker will perform Heroes and Hard Times, stories and songs of the African-American experience at 6:30 p.m.; and the Lions Club board will meet at 7 p.m.
On Wednesday, the Crafters Club will meet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and a basic sewing skills workshop will be offered at 6 p.m. by Emily Willis. First project will be an apron. Bring a sewing machine if possible, all other materials will be supplied.
On Nov. 8, the Friends of the Library Book Club will discuss “Artemis Fowl” by Eoin Colfer at 4 p.m.; and the Autumn Vistas Digital Photography Show will meet at 6:30 p.m.
DEPUE — The Selby Township Library hosts a blood pressure and blood sugar screening clinic the second Tuesday of each month. Stop in anytime between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. to have your pressure and sugar checked by a health care professional. The clinic is provided by St. Margaret’s Health and is free and open to the public.
NEPONSET — The Neponset Public Library will observe National Gaming Day @ your library at 1 p.m. Saturday. Play cards, board games, computer games, video games and more. There will be lots of fun and pizza.
OHIO — At 4 p.m. Wednesday, the Bureau County Farm Bureau will be at the Ohio Public Library to present a program on turkeys. There will be activities and snacks that are related to this topic. This is sure to be a fun program, so please stop in to sign up at the library.
Also, the library is taking Butter Braid orders until Friday, with a delivery date of Nov. 14. Stop in to the library to make your order.
The library also has a large number of newly released books by authors like Mitch Albom, James Patterson, John Sandford, Sandra Brown, Bill O’Reilly, Clive Cussler, Rick Riordan and Lee Child that are available to be checked out.
PERU — The Peru Public Library holds a story time for children age 3 to 5 at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday. Children will hear stories, sing songs, dance and learn finger plays. Registration is not required. Visit www.perulibrary.org or call 815-223-0229 ext. 5 for more information.
SPRING VALLEY — Story time is held every Tuesday at the Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library from 5:30 to 6 p.m. in the children’s room of the library. There is a story and a craft-related project during this time for preschool children through third grade. A parent must accompany their child. This is free of charge.
