Christmas in the Valley

SPRING VALLEY — The annual Christmas in the Valley event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10 in Spring Valley.

Activities will include Starved Rock trolley rides; music by the strolling barbershop quartet, “Harmony Guaranteed;” children’s holiday crafts from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library; children’s games and food at Spring Valley Ford; bake sales in the downtown Mini-Park; face painting and hot apple cider at ImagineU Studio, across from the library, and the Laborers Union will provide free cotton candy there; Time on the Water’s indoor archery range; pictures with Santa at Valley Photo for $5 a child; a vendors show in the City Hall Community Room to benefit the Hall Township Food Pantry; Valley Coin-Jewelry-Pawn will have free hot coffee/tea and cookies all day; Freedom House’s Upsale Resale will open its annual Christmas tree auction and have a bake sale in the Mini-Park; and Illinois Valley Junior Women’s League bake sale in the Mini-Park. If anyone brings in at least one canned food item and places it under the Christmas tree, they will donate it to the Hall Township Food Pantry. They will also receive a free Buffalo nickel for every item donated, and be entered into their end of the month (November) drawing for a $20 in-store credit. St. Margaret’s gift shop will have refreshments, free gift wrapping and shopping specials, and the Locker Room will also have shopping specials. Valley Flowers and Gifts will have a holiday open house and giveaways. Tag Day will be held to benefit music programs in the schools and community.

A free concert by the Jazz Ambassadors of the U.S. Army Field Band will be at 7 p.m. at Hall High School. Tickets are free but required. Tickets may be picked up at the city clerk’s offices in DePue, Granville, Henry, Ladd, LaSalle, Mendota, Oglesby, Ottawa, Peru, Princeton, Spring Valley and Utica.
