Ohio High School 10-22
OHIO — The Ohio High School Board took action on the following items at its meeting Oct. 22:
• Accepted the treasurer’s report. Superintendent Sharon Sweger said the district had received payments from the state for money owed last year. The state is behind only $2,975 for the current year. In addition, Sweger said the district has received 48 percent of the revenues for the year and spent 19 percent of the expenditures. The total of all fund balances is $961,936, up from last year.
• Approved the submission of the 2013 School Library Per Capita Grant application for $100.
• Accepted the Joint Agreement FY '13 Budget for the Behavior Disorder Co-op. Sweger said Ohio can send students who need the program and then pay tuition. She said there are currently no district students in the program.
• Heard the current enrollment is 33 students.
• Heard the Regional Office of Education conducted its annual inspection of the building. Sweger said there were a couple little things to look at, and they would like her to check with the district architect to determine if a heat sensor is needed in the kindergarten storage closet.
• Heard the electrical panel has been installed in the boiler room. There is a problem with the compressor, which may need to be replaced.
• Heard from Sweger that in 2010, the two districts received $71,843 in regular transportation money from the state. This year the districts are scheduled to receive $22,332.
• Reviewed the revised 2013 senior class trip agenda.
• Heard board members Bob Gonigam, Carol Debruhl and Tim Snodgrass are up for re-election. Petition packets are available in Sweger's office, and three packets have been picked up so far. The last day for filing is Dec. 24, from 3 to 5 p.m. Four, four-year terms are available.
• Heard Sweger is prepared to get bids for all the windows in the building. Sweger said there are major air and water leaks and malfunctions. The plan is to take out the fake panels at the top of the windows and having tinted glass in the entire opening. Sweger said the R rating on the glass is better than the panel. The building committee will review.
• Heard volleyball, football and cross country were wrapping up their seasons.
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 26.
