Three historic buildings in downtown Neponset will soon be razed, according to Marty Golby of Neponset. Golby says the black and white building on the left is the former Laub’s Loft Antique Shop, which closed about 2000. This building was also the home of Mercantile Printers in the 1960s and 1970s, and was once Russell’s Grocery Store. The brick building on the right was Neponset Hardware, which was built circa 1880. The hardware store closed in the early 1980s and was used by the Laub family to store antiques for their shop. All three buildings to be razed are on the north side of Commercial Street.
