Today, Tuesday, is Election Day. I hope everyone will be heading to the polls to cast their votes for the candidates they believe will do the best job. Republican or Democrat ... it’s important to make your voice heard. I don’t know about you, but when I leave the voting booth, I always feel proud to be an American. I hope you’ll vote carefully today. Our future is in our own hands.

I need your help. The BCR is publishing its annual “A Homemade Holiday” recipe section on Dec. 8. Like last year, we are asking you to submit your favorite holiday recipe for inclusion in this section, which will, no doubt, be kept for years to come. If you submit your recipe by this Friday, Nov. 9, we’ll even enter your name in a drawing to win a $100 very cool baking basket. The last day to submit a recipe is 5 p.m. Nov. 16.

It’s really easy to participate. Without using any abbreviations (spell out all words like tablespoon, ounces, etc.), type or write out your favorite holiday recipe. Make sure the directions to the recipe are complete and easy to understand. Include your first and last name, your hometown, your email and telephone number. (Your telephone number and email will not be published.)
