Helen Marsh

Helen was born in Ankeny, Iowa, to the late Theodore and Ruth Moeckly. She was the beloved wife of the late Herbert Marsh, and the loving mother of Linda Marsh, Jeanne (Steven Shevell) Marsh, Loralee (Stephen Ruedrich) Marsh and Kathy (Vladimir Vekstein) Marsh; devoted grandmother of Lee, Lauren, Kathryn, Eric, Emily, Caitlin, Daniel, Phillip, Andrew and Carolyn; and great-grandmother of Holden, Julianne and Henry.

Helen was a graduate of Iowa State University , where she had been a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She taught home economics in Monroe, Wis., for four years while her husband served in the Veterinary Corps of the U.S. Army in China in World War II. Upon reuniting, Helen helped her husband build and operate his large and small animal veterinary practice in Whitewater, Wis. Four years later, they relocated their growing family and the veterinary practice to Princeton, where Helen lived for the next 54 years.

Not only was Helen a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, daughter and wife during these years, she was an active participant in many cultural and community organizations, such as Hampshire Colony Congregational Church, 4-H, Campfire Girls, American Field Service, P.E.O Sisterhood, Friends in Council of Princeton and the Perry Memorial Hospital Board of Directors. She was a woman of wide interests, with a love of gardening, reading, travel, antiques, cooking and entertaining; which she shared with and passed on to her four daughters.

Because of Helen's unique ability to make anyone she encountered feel understood and connected, she was a friend and blessing to many.  Helen touched countless lives throughout her long and productive life, and she will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Serenity Chapel (Crown Center) at Laurel Lake, Hudson, Ohio, with a reception to follow immediately. A second service, followed by interment in Princeton, will be scheduled in the summer of 2013.
