Help us give you ‘A Homemade Holiday’
While you might still be nibbling on some leftover Halloween treats, it’s no secret the holidays are looming in the not too far future. Thanksgiving is less than a month away, and after that, the following few weeks that lead up to Christmas will be nothing short of a blur filled with lists of things to do, shopping, parties and holiday hoopla.
The Bureau County Republican is hoping to help you out with at least one aspect of your holiday planning. On Dec. 8, the Bureau County Republican will publish a keepsake edition, titled, “A Homemade Holiday,” filled with recipes from your friends, neighbors and other BCR readers.
But in order to do so, the BCR needs your help and is asking you to submit your favorite holiday recipe to be included in this publication.
It’s really quite simple.
Without using any abbreviations (spell out all words like tablespoon, ounces, etc.), type or write out your favorite holiday recipe. Make sure the directions to the recipe are complete and easy to understand. Include your first and last name, your hometown, your email and telephone number. (Your telephone number and email will not be published.)
You can submit your recipe via a variety of venues, including by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also use our online form at www.bcrnews.com/forms/recipe. You’re also welcome to mail your recipe to the BCR at P.O. Box 340, Princeton, IL 61356, or you can drop it off at our office at 800 Ace Road, Princeton. Keep in mind the BCR has an after-hours drop box at the rear of our building, where you can also deposit your recipe if our office is not open.
If you submit your recipe today, you will be included in the BCR’s $100 random drawing for a holiday baking basket; we must receive your recipe by 5 p.m. Friday in order to have your name in that drawing. The baking basket will include a plethora of items that will help make your holiday baking easier on your pocketbook, not to mention sweeter as well.
The absolute last date to submit a recipe is 5 p.m. Nov. 16.
“This will clearly be a fun section, but the best part of it is that all the recipes will be from the folks you know,” BCR Editor Terri Simon said. “Maybe you have a favorite family recipe that has been handed down from generation to generation. Perhaps you’ve discovered a new recipe your family truly enjoys. Or maybe your favorite recipe is one that depicts your family’s heritage or ethnic background. Either way, we hope to be able to include it in this section and share it with other BCR readers.”
Anyone with questions, can contact Simon at email@example.com or by calling 815-875-4461, ext. 229.
Feel free to submit as many recipes as you’d like, but please remember to adhere to the submission guidelines. This special section will definitely be one you’ll want to tuck away with your other cookbooks and keep for years to come.
Mmmm ... this is going to be one tasty section.
