SPRINGFIELD — Robert D. “Dan” Haney, 81, of Springfield passed away at 9:41 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at his daughter's home in Princeton.

Born Sept. 28, 1931, in Chicago to Elmore and Patrina Cook Haney Sr., he married Mildred Cooney of Jacksonville July 3, 1965. She died Nov. 19, 2006.

He was raised in Bureau and graduated from Hall High School in Spring Valley. He retired after 32 years of service from AT&T where he worked in research and development as a manager. In his early days, he worked for the railroad in Bureau. He also had acquired his private pilot license.
