Library will hold open house

SHEFFIELD — “Give the Gift of Reading” will be the theme at the Sheffield Public Library during the annual Celebrate Sheffield Open House on Saturday. Amid festive holiday decorations, seasonal refreshments will be served, including hot cider and coffee as well as cheeses, crackers and sausage.

Constance Deal and her violin students will provide live holiday music from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Librarian Sue Lanxon will read holiday stories in the children’s department every half hour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Freshly popped popcorn and lemonade will be served for the children.

Everyone will have a chance to participate in the “For the Kids” campaign by purchasing tickets for the many baskets offered by Sheffield businesses and organizations. The library will offer a festive large basket brimming with new holiday books for the entire family. Tickets for the gift baskets will be for sale on Main Street, along with maps showing patrons where the baskets are located.
