ELGIN — Mark R. Hudson, 45, of Elgin, formerly of Princeton, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012.
Mark was born Aug. 7, 1967, to C. Robert and Marcia (Conley) Hudson. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1985 and received his bachelor's degree from Benedictine University. On Feb. 10, 1992, he married Kathryn Ward.
Mark began working as a firefighter and paramedic in Streamwood in 1992. In 1999 he was promoted to lieutenant, in 2001 to battalion chief and in 2006 he became the deputy chief of the Streamwood Fire Department. Mark was the owner of Hudson Cleaning and Restoration Inc. from 1999 to 2005. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Elgin. Mark enjoyed camping and was avid NASCAR fan.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Kathryn Hudson of Elgin. Also surviving are their two daughters, Kara Nichole Hudson at the Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C., and Kendall Marie Hudson at home in Elgin; his parents, Robert and Marcia Hudson of Princeton; one sister, Sara Hudson of Princeton, and her children, David and Abbey Mills; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, Oscar Conrad and Evelyn Hudson, and Clarence and Edith Conley.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton, with the Rev. Thomas Ostrander officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
A visitation and service will also be held at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd. (at Barrington Road), Streamwood/Schaumburg. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and the service will be at 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for Mark's children's college fund.
