Mark Verstraete

BRADFORD — Mark J. Verstraete, 64, of Bradford died at 7:58 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.

Born March 31, 1948, in Champaign to John "Jack" and Anna Mae (Schultz) Verstraete, he married Lorraine M. Forth Dec. 21, 1968, in Wyanet. She survives.

He graduated from Annawan High School in 1966. He attended Black Hawk East in Kewanee and Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo. He retired from Bomag Americas in Kewanee in 2007.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bradford, the Bradford School Board for 18 years, the Bureau County Fair Board for 22 years, the Henry Stark Special Education Board and the First Baptist Church of Bradford Board. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He served his community, his church and his Lord.

Also surviving are three sons, Todd (Krista) Verstraete of East Peoria, Benjamin (Brandi) Verstraete of Bradford and Steven Verstraete of Bradford; two daughters, Jill Verstraete of La Mesa, Calif., and Ann (Ben) Kampmeier of Valparaiso, Ind.; and seven grandchildren, Caleb, Kimberly and Alexandria Gunning, Katlin Reynolds, Olivia and Tanner Verstraete, and Camden Verstraete.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Bradford with Pastor William Carter officiating. Private burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Bradford.

Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Bradford, Bradford Rescue Squad or Abilities Plus in Kewanee.

Pallbearers are Benjamin Verstraete, Todd Verstraete, Benjamin Kampmeier, Caleb Gunning, David Forth and Sheridan Cler. Honorary pallbearer is Steven Verstraete.
