NCIC names final all-conference team

The NCIC handed out its final All-Conference volleyball selections, including players from Princeton, St. Bede and Chillicothe IVC.

The first-team all-conference selections include Princeton’s Michelle Kelly and Katherine Pranka and St. Bede’s Morgan King.

League champ IVC (4-0) placed Libby Rutan, Tina Batek, Laura Hedden and Hannah Scherer.

Honorable mention went to Princeton’s Rebecca Hult and Alicia Poss, St. Bede’s Lydia Stariha and Lauren Urbanowski, and IVC’s Brooke Ratcliff and Megan Connor.

The NCIC is disbanding with Princeton and St. Bede’s departure to the Three Rivers Conference in 2013.

Arrowhead All-Conference: Illinois Valley Community College sophomore Hailee Brayton and freshman Kayla MacDavitt have been named to the All-Arrowhead Conference volleyball team, Athletic Director Tommy Canale announced.

Brayton and MacDavitt are graduates of St. Bede Academy

• Big Rivers All-Conference: St. Bede junior Michael Slingsby (second team center) and Bureau Valley senior (second team defensive back) were inadvertently omitted from the All-Conference listing for Big Rivers football in Tuesday’s BCR.

• Princeton Tournament: The Princeton High School Athletic Booster Club will host its annual Holiday Girls’ Basketball Tournament Nov. 12-17 at Prouty Gymnasium. This year’s tournament has been restructured into pool play with participating schools Bureau Valley, Erie, Henry-Senachwine, LaMoille-Ohio, Midland, Princeton, Putnam County and Stark County.

Opening night games match Henry vs. Erie at 5 p.m., Stark County vs. Bureau Valley at 6:30 p.m. and defending champ Princeton vs. LaMoille/Ohio at 8 p.m.
