Carl Olson
NORMAL — Mr. Carl M. Olson, 92, of Normal, formerly of Princeton, passed away at 8:53 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Heritage Health Care Center in Normal.
Carl was born Oct. 24, 1920, in Pomeroy, Iowa, the son of Martin and Anna (Isaacson) Olson. He married Virginia M. Carlson on Sept. 15, 1945, in Princeton. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years.
Carl had formerly worked in sales for Rath Meat Packing Company in Waterloo, Iowa, and Kansas City, Mo. Later he moved to Rockford where he became involved with furniture sales and later to Princeton where he co-owned and operated Larson Furniture Store until he retired. He served on the Children's Home Foundation Board and was a member and past president of Princeton Rotary. He also served on the Princeton Elementary School Board in Princeton. While living in Princeton he was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church. Carl also served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He enjoyed traveling, golf, coin collecting and fishing. Carl enjoyed classical music and was a gifted violinist.
