Christmas service

SHEFFIELD — The annual interdenominational Christmas service at St. Peter’s Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sheffield will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 16.

The service has been held on the third Sunday of Advent since 1970 in the church that is heated by two pot-bellied stoves and decorated with a Christmas tree with handmade Danish ornaments. Area clergy will participate will share the call to worship, the reading of the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke, the reading of the Apostle’s Creed, the homily, the lighting of the Advent candle and the benediction. Several area musicians will provide special Christmas music.

A free-will offering will be collected to help cover some of the expenses. Refreshments will be served at the Sheffield Community Center, 121 S. Church St. immediately after the service.
