‘Hike the Canal’ walks found great weather in October

Oct. 21 was one of the best days to get outdoors and enjoy the scenery, according to Ed Herrmann of Spring Valley, who conducts the monthly “Hike the Canal” walks on the Hennepin Canal. He said the October in the Wyanet area was the best attended for the year. He submitted these photos of the hike. For those not familiar with the canal hikes, free hikes are offered on the third Sunday of each month, except for December, on different sections of the Hennepin Canal. It takes two years of hikes to cover the entire parkway. The hikes are open to all, no charge. You just have to be at the location stated in the newspaper or on the Friends of the Hennepin website. The hikes begin at 1:30 p.m.
