HENRY — River Valley Players invites everyone to join in the magic of the holiday season with their third annual Festival of Wreaths and Wine Tasting event on Dec. 1.

This year’s event will finalize the events of the Henry Holiday Preview from 4 to 6 p.m. at St. Mary’s Community Center in Henry. The festivities include wine and a variety of hors d’oeuvres, homemade cookies, candies and other munchies, and also include hot mulled cider, hot chocolate and punch.

Attendees can sample wines and other refreshments, including a variety of snack items, while they peruse the display of locally hand-crafted wreaths, and bid on their favorites. Top bids will determine who will win their favorite wreaths to take home to add to their holiday decorations. There will be live musical entertainment featuring local musicians and performance groups.

A donation of $8 for adult tickets includes a total of five wine samplings, snacks and entertainment. Children’s tickets are $5 and include two beverage choices, snacks and entertainment.

Proceeds from the event will be used to continue to provide and support the performing arts in the community. River Valley Players has staged more than 50 different productions from Youth Theatre, children’s theatre summer camps and workshops, to musicals and plays. The organization also provides three scholarships annually to provide Henry area musical students with attending summer music camps as well as providing scholarships to area college students that have been involved with River Valley Players.
