SPRING VALLEY — On Nov. 8 members of the Spring Valley Leo Club decorated 24 trees along the west lane of Hall High School with red, white, and blue streamers in honor of the 24 Hall High School students who gave the supreme sacrifice for this country in World War II. Students also decorated a rock bearing a plaque which lists the names of the 24 students in whose honor the trees were planted.

The 24 Hall High School veterans had served in the Army, Navy and Air Force during World War II. The plaque, which was part of Kim Cabodi’s Eagle Scout project, states: “This plaque and stone were placed here in order to perpetuate the living symbol of the 24 trees that were planted during World War II in loving and grateful memory of the 24 Hall High School students who gave the supreme sacrifice for their country during that war.”

According to Leo Club Sponsor Barb Fulara, “Members of the Leo Club wanted to honor the memory of those 24 students during the time when our country observes Veterans Day. They also wanted to show present students at Hall why the trees were planted and to remind fellow students of the price that has been paid by all of our veterans to secure the freedoms we have today.”
