PRINCETON — Playing with Words: Creative Writing Workshop will be held at 6:30 p.m. today, Thursday, at the Princeton Public Library. The Covered Bridge Quilt Guild Board will meet at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, the library will be closed to install the Smithsonian exhibit, Journeys Stories.

On Sunday, there will be a reception of the opening of the Smithsonian exhibit, Journey Stories, from 4 to 6 p.m. The public is invited.

On Monday, J.V. Enterprises will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Journeys film will be shown at 6:30 p.m. The movie is an absorbing action drama that recreates the classic romantic tale of Pocahontas and Captain John Smith while the tumultuous beginning of a new world threatens to divide people rather than unite them.

On Tuesday, the preschool story hour will be held with the theme Thanksgiving. All area preschoolers and their parents/guardians are welcome to attend. Also, The American Girls Path for Journeys Stories: Journeys with Josephina, Rebecca and Addy will be presented for school age students at 3:30 p.m.; WUNT will meet at 6:30 p.m.; and at 6:30 p.m., Journeys: The Musical Path: Songs for the American Road with Phil Kaufmann drawing from the collections of John and Alan Lomax.

On Wednesday, the Journeys matinee will be shown at 1:30 p.m. Three lost household pets, a golden retriever, a bulldog and a cat survive a harrowing series of adventures as they struggle to find their way home.

The library will be closed Nov. 22-23 for Thanksgiving.

SPRING VALLEY — Story time with Ms. Jeri is held every Tuesday from 5:30 until 6 p.m. in the children’s room of the Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library. There is a story and a craft-related project during this time for preschool children through third grade. A parent must accompany their child. This is free of charge.

Nov. 26 is “Book Chat,” a young adult book club. Call the library for details at 815-663-4741.

Nov. 29 is “Trim our tree party.” Bring your family and help the library decorate its Christmas tree! Christmas music, cookies and games will be offered. The library is asking each family to donate one Christmas ornament for its tree that will be used year after year. Feel free to mark your ornament with your family’s name. The party will start at 6 p.m. and will wrap up at 7 p.m. Please call the library to sign up at 815-663-4741.
